Your SU (Issue 1)

This year kicked off with a cracking Freshers’ Week with nights in venues such as Communion Bar and Drink Shop Do followed by our Autumn Ball in the University Womens’ Club. We had a great week and we hope you did too.

Em and Tom did a great job at running the Halloween Pound Party whilst I was in Poland on ‘business’. We are holding another Pound Party in the café on the 11th December. Please come and join us for some Christmas themed fun!

Our societies are also up and running. Law Society, CSEEAC and BoAS are all running successful sets of talks, Medieval Society and Gin Soc has been on trips all over London, JSoc, Femsoc, Debate and Christian Union are hosting busy meetings, Art Society is launching a new website and Film Society is now enjoying weekly screenings in the lecture theatre. If you are interested in setting up any new societies please come and talk to us!

We are now holding weekly Student Committee meetings in SR3 at 4.15pm. If you would like any issues raised, please contact the relevant representative or officer or even come to the meeting yourself.

We are currently in the process of setting up various charitable ventures. We will be setting up a box outside the student café near the pigeon holes which will permanently be there for students to donate goods which will be taken, on a monthly basis, to St-Martin-in-the-Fields, a charity which looks after the homeless. These donations are especially helpful on the run up to Christmas so if you have any dry foods, old clothes and the like please put them in the box!

We’re all really looking forward to the Winter Ball which will be held at the surrealist themed members’ club Vout-O-Reenees in Tower Hill on the 14th December. There will be lots of drink and food including a huge cheeseboard. And unlike previous Winter Balls this one will go on till 2am. Tickets will go on sale soon so make sure you don’t miss out on those.

We will also soon be taking down our two old websites and launching a shiny new one, so keep an eye out for that!

Thank you all for coming to all our events and supporting us through everything. We are keen to hear from all of you so if you have any questions please come and find us in the office.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Greg
