CONFERENCE ASSISTANTS
WE NEED YOU!
The 44th Association for Art History Annual Conference Visual Culture will be co-hosted by the Courtauld Institute of Art and King’s College London from Thursday 5 to Saturday 7 April 2018. The Annual Conference is the major conference for professional art historians in the UK. It attracts up to 600 delegates, speakers and publishers, including leading international academics, curators, researchers and postgraduate students. The conference theme this year is Look Out! There are 40 academic sessions and a more informal Festival.
We are currently seeking 24 art history students (under and post graduate) to volunteer with the on-site facilitation of the forthcoming conference which will be held on campus in April 2018. This will be a unique opportunity to meet and listen to an international range of scholars and practitioners of art history and visual culture.
Conference Assistants will be required to be available for 4 days which includes the set-up day on Wednesday 4th through to and including Saturday 7th April 2018. Required hours will be from 9am to 5pm on Wednesday and 8am to 6pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
In return, you will receive:
Expenses of £35 per day
A free one-year student membership subscription to the Association for Art History (starting from May 2018)
Lunches and tea/coffee will be provided on all 4 days
Opportunities hear and make contacts with leading professionals across the sector
Opportunities to meet and work with students from King’s
Experience to put on your CV
Previous conference assistance experience is not necessary however, individuals sought should be committed, reliable, possess good communication skills, have excellent time management skills, be able to show initiative and most importantly possess good IT skills. Duties may include:
Assisting speakers in the operation of IT equipment within lecture rooms (training will be given)
Providing guide services
Accompanying delegates on organised visits
Assisting with the preparation of delegate packs
Assist with the Bookfair and Exhibition event
Assistants will also be required to wear a conference T-shirt (provided free of charge) and name badge during conference hours.
